Challenge #190 - Vacation

If you could go anywhere, where would you go?  Real or some secret place in your imaginary world.  This fortnight the Order of the Opus Gluei is asking you to take a

VACATION

with us and share your place - real or not with us through your art.

Electra  Geesh, it's 7 degrees here tonight.  I wish I were somewhere else....
Is it vacation weather were you are right now?

Deena here....we are planning a cruise in February to the Bahamas with our next door neighbours...I can't wait for the warmth and escape from winter...and I am also addicted to cruising, so that helps too.  I made them this book for the photos from our trip...I will add them after the vacation as a little surprise for them.  The rest of the pages can be seen on my blog.

Chat Noir

I went on a trip down memory lane back to the glorious sunny days spent with friends in the Cyclades islands of Greece, notably Naxos, Paros and Santorini.  Unforgettable.  I made some ATCs, which seem to be my signature this year, and tried to capture something of the times we had.

There's a bit more information on my blog, but if you want my advice, just go!  You'll never regret it.

Rosemary here and my experiments with art journaling continue...with mixed results.   I haven't had a proper vacation in three years, a situation that is not good all around.  HOWEVER, a girl can dream or even find comfort and a getaway in just a good read and a beautiful place to read in.  Hence, my art journal page.

It's a two page spread and I like that images I had drawn and covered over with different washi tape pieces still peek through and it adds a mood to the simple drawing and lettering atop it.  The most visible image is the eye I was drawing that appears to be staring back from the foliage...boo!

Challenge #189 - Bountiful Harvest

Where I live in the eastern United States we are in the midst of summer with all the delightful goodies coming into the farmers' market, home gardens, and stores.  Fresh fruits and vegetables make it fun to eat healthier and the taste of food in season cannot be beat.

With THAT in mind, we're asking you to create and use

FRUITS and VEGGIES

or whatever a bountiful harvest means to

you

and then link your project with us here in the comments section.

Here's what the talented Poobahs have created:

Rosemary here and I've created a scrapbook layout celebrating my first canning experiences.  I haven't been very ambitious but what I have made has turned out pretty well.  Hurrah!!!!  It's a small achievement but an achievement nonetheless.

The patterned paper made me think of a country kitchen and I die cut the journaling tag to look like a label from a jar of preserves.

Chat Noir here.....deep in the windy days and nights of a southern Australian winter.....dreaming of summer and a picnic.

The peppers aren't mine...they're just the backdrop for my ATC with a picnic feel.

Electra here:

I don't eat enough fruit and veggies.
So having said that, I made a piece that celebrates
a world where fruit and veggies are not part of a balanced diet,
they are part of a balanced neighbourhood.
